AFRICAN CHANGEMAKERS INITIATIVES (ACI) CELEBRATES AFRICA DAY IN PORT-HARCOURT, RIVERS STATE
Africa Day is observed annually to commemorate the founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) which was created on 25 May 1963. It is the precursor of the African Union (AU).
Africa Day has become a day of celebration for Africans and people of African descent all over the world and has even morphed into Africa Month which is celebrated throughout the month of May.
This year’s theme: The Year of Nutrition: Africa Food Security and Well-Being, focuses on Goal 3 of the AU Agenda 2063 which is “Citizens are healthy and well-nourished and enjoying a life expectancy of above 75 years”.
Covid-19 exposed the economic vulnerability of African countries and the weaknesses of their health and food systems. The price to pay for keeping the virus at bay has been, in many African countries, at the expense of gains made in reducing malnutrition.
African Change Makers Initiative (ACi) in partnership with Our Lady of Perpetual Help initiative (OLPHI) presents a panel of seasoned professionals in the food and health sector to discuss on the nutritional Well-Being of vulnerable population and food security in the African continent.
