Responsibilities

Operations in Data Centers

  • Shows that they have a practical understanding of how to prepare, install, run diagnostics, troubleshoot, replace, and/or decommission equipment.
  • Distributes pertinent information proactively to promote effective workflow and lessen the effects of changes to their area of responsibility on others.
  • Adheres to the business unit and service-level guidelines and timelines for Data Center Services (DCS).
  • With little assistance from other technicians, efficiently completes assigned tickets in accordance with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for each work type, while meeting or surpassing set Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Service Delivery

  • Performs startup and shutdown operations on equipment (such as racks, hard drives, and switches) in accordance with detailed instructions supplied in emails, checklists, guidelines, and standard operating procedures. Assists and directs other technicians in completing difficult or complex jobs.
  • Verifies that grounding, staging, labelling, and cabling are set up correctly in accordance with safety procedures, deployment standards, and scheduled Network Design Tasks by carrying out post-execution quality checks (NDTs),
  • Carrying out diagnostics and troubleshooting in accordance with standard processes, promptly pinpoints the root of the problem, and replaces broken parts with the least amount of customer and company disturbance.
  • Helps technicians troubleshoot problems by offering advice.
  • Decommissions devices using minimally guided standard methods for straightforward upgrades and refreshes (such as RAM upgrades and OS rebuilds).
  • Adheres to protocols to report, escalate, and communicate incidents to the proper Microsoft data center operations management units, Technician Leads, and engineering experts.

Managing Services

  • Gaining knowledge of cross-functional methods to facilitate collaborations with internal and external stakeholders
  • Obtains the necessary training in accordance with the job and workload; works under the supervision of more seasoned technicians to get practical experience and pertinent on-the-job training.

Data Center Work Environment

  • Complies with safety procedures (such as equipment use, lifting, electrical risks, and ladder/rolling stair use) and takes part in daily safety briefings.
  • Fulfils the necessary security training, complies with security and data management standards, and warns others of security problems and/or incidents.
  • By exchanging information with others, participating in routine team meetings, posing inquiries, and remaining up to date on the state of others’ work, one can contribute to a productive and positive team atmosphere.

Ownership
