Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Presidential Scholars Program, you must:
- Be a Nebraska resident.
- Have applied and been admitted to a University of Nebraska campus.
- Be a first-time freshman entering college after high school graduation.
- Submit official ACT composite scores (32-35) or SAT equivalent (1420-1560) to your chosen campus. Superscores are not accepted.
How To Apply
Applications are accepted from November 1st 2024 to January 1st 2025. Follow these steps to ensure your application is complete:
Step 1: Apply and Submit ACT/SAT Scores: Apply to your preferred University of Nebraska campus and ensure your admission is confirmed. Submit your official ACT or SAT scores directly to the university.

Step 2: Review the Process: After completing Step 1, proceed to the Presidential Scholars Application via the link under Step 4. Ensure all parts of the application are filled out before submission. Check for a confirmation email to verify your application is complete.
Step 3: Log Into the Application Portal: Use your TrueYou account to access the application portal. Set up your account at the TrueYou website using your NUID and password if needed. Once logged in, click “LOG IN TO APPLY” and then select ‘Presidential Scholarship Application’ under “View Programs.”

Click ‘Apply’ and complete the application sections:
- Section 1: Personal contact information.
- Section 2: Details about your high school achievements and the 350-word essay.
- Essay Prompt: Showcasing Your Top Achievements: The essay is a crucial part of the application. In 350 words or less, describe: Your top two to three achievements (academic or non-academic) that showcase your talents. How these achievements influenced your decision to pursue a college education at the University of Nebraska. Your college plans and interests once you begin your studies.
Step 4: Submit Your Application: Confirm all sections are completed and click “Mark as Complete.” After submission, check your email for a confirmation notification. Applications will be reviewed in January, and selected students will be notified in February.
